Painfully Relatable
Exhibition Campaign
Pamphlet, flyer, billboard, social media & animation
Inspired by my research into feminist activist zines, I decided to imagine a fictitious environment within which to display them. I have visualised an exhibition to exist in the FACT gallery in Liverpool. The title of this exhibition,“painfully relatable”, is inspired by the personal experience of Edie Medley, whom I researched as part of the GARP. Edie Medley’s work shown in her zine ‘It Hurts’ explores the experience of chronic UTI’s and being dismissed by doctors; this was described in a review as a “painfully relatable” experience.
I have taken this comment both literally and as a further comment on the overall health system catering towards men and centering men’s research which I thought captured the research as a whole. This project takes research into women’s activist zines and creates a gallery space dedicated to displaying archives in the gallery FACT. I have created multiple assets for this exhibition campaign, including a gallery walkthrough pamphlet, flyer, social media Instagram posts, billboard/laptop banners, GIFS and a logo.
